Salomón Simhon (Bogotá, 1983) is a Colombian filmmaker, director, and producer known for his visual creativity and innovative storytelling. The son of renowned art dealer Eleonora Perea and acclaimed illusionist Jose Simhon, he grew up immersed in a world of arts and entertainment. His journey into cinema began in high school with his first short film ¿Quién soy?, starring members of his own family. After briefly studying philosophy at Universidad de los Andes, he enrolled at the Black Maria Film School, where he directed two additional short films, Fe and Sinfónica.
In 2004, he moved to Sydney, Australia, where he directed the short drama SMILE at the Academy of Photogenic Film Arts. The film was nominated at the Los Angeles Short Film Festival and won Best Art Direction at the Bogoshorts Festival. Returning to Bogotá in 2006, he founded Direktor Films, producing acclaimed music videos and commercials for international brands such as Toyota, Pepsi, Air Jordan, Perry Ellis, Chevrolet, Riot Games, and Visa, among others. He won three Santalucia awards for Best Music Video at the Bogoshorts Festival. He also directed commercials in Beijing for Ennova and joined Mr. Woo Films in Mexico City in 2012.
Despite his international success, Salomón returned to Bogotá to open Cine Tonalá, the city's first independent cinema, while directing Detective Marañón for Dynamo Productions. He has collaborated with major artists such as DJ Khaled, Nicky Jam, J Balvin, Karol G, and Shaggy, earning two Shock Awards for Best Music Video.
In 2020, he made his television debut directing three episodes of the series Malayerba for VIX Pantaya and Starz, showcasing his versatility as a filmmaker. In 2023, he directed the global campaign for Air Jordan and celebrated the 10th anniversary of Riot Games’ League of Legends.This year his music video for Belinda 'She is Bad' wonTokyo Lift-Off Network Film Festival.
Currently, Salomón is set to begin directing Vegetal a movie based on Gustavo Ceratis death, while working on his upcoming short film Proyecto de vida. At the same time, he is developing two original series, Grandma’s Bank and La Cuadra, as well as the feature film La Muerte en las Manos, establishing himself as one of the most versatile and promising filmmakers of his generation, with a vision that moves fluidly between advertising, fiction, and television.
